TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/JOB SUMMARY

- Understand weld symbols

- Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and sketches to understand the specifications of a project

- Efficiently and safely perform welding tasks using various welding processes and equipment

- Properly use weld measurement tools and gauges

- Must have a thorough knowledge of various metals characteristics and qualities including the correct welding processes required and the effects of welding on the material

- Ability to inspect completed welds for conformance to specifications and know how to correct defects when necessary

- Will be required to work aloft (on scaffold or on manlifts) and in confined spaces.

- On site training is provided.

JOB PROFICIENCY

- Complete carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel fillet and butt weld certifications using the SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and GMAW-P process (multi-pass) in 3G and 4G positions

- Complete stainless steel, Cupro-Nickel, and carbon steel pipe welds (6G)

- Self-assess quality of work to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations

- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools

- Perform structural welding on ship components such as hulls, decks, bulkheads, frames, and foundations. …
